ABOUT ME

Director, filmmaker, and scriptwriter, Nisreen Al-Sbeihi Noman, was born in Amman, Jordan, on the 3rd of June, 1974.  She began her career as a humanitarian activist and social impactor. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Press and Media with honors. Nisreen entered the film industry and chose to document real-life war situations, focusing mainly on the civil war in Yemen. Despite the difficulty of gaining access to a capable camera, Nisreen’s ambition and determination lead to success. Her mission, to tell the brutal reality.

Whilst originally from Jordan, Nisreen also holds Yemeni citizenship following her marriage to Izzat Noman. She has a daughter and a son from her previous marriage. Growing up in a male dominant family her strong personality was built on family values and ideals. Her core beliefs lie in empowering women. She believes that all women should have the chance to be nurtured, the opportunity to gain knowledge and an adequate education. Nisreen focuses on human rights, disease outbreaks and malnutrition caused by conflict. Additionally, she focuses on the plight of innocent children and endangered women affected by these tragedies, placing herself in the same oppressed situation, observing the daily difficulties through the eyes of the community. Nisreen uses this first hand experience to ensure the truth is shared with the global community.

Her first work was a short documentary movie called “Dawn Has Not Come”, which was acknowledged globally, winning three awards; Scientific & Educational Awards from Madrid IFF 2018 in Madrid, Best Short Documentary from North Europe IFF 2019 in London, and Best Short Documentary from South Europe IFF 2019 in Valencia. Following the success and recognition of her first movie, Nisreen was encouraged to start with the production of her next project, “Assem”. A movie which was recently produced and nominated for three awards in the West Europe International Film Festival 2019, in Brussels, Belgium; The Scientific & Educational Award, Best Story and the Best Cinematography Award.

Nisreen has a passion for reading. She spends countless hours stimulating her brain and gaining extensive knowledge from books and articles. In her limited free time, Nisreen enjoys working out and listening to music. She learned to play the Org at a young age and continues to do so during her free time.
